My Dog(s)

I have one (two on horizon) dog(s). The only reason of this uncertainty will be explained later. The first one is a female doberman, while the second one will be a male pit bull. The oldest was born in September 2010. I am sure they will both be big and powerful dogs and will be raised to be respectful and behaved canines.

Both dogs will be micro-chipped, and receive annual vaccinations. Each dog will have two water bowls, and one food bowl. One water bowl will be available for them to drink while the other will be put in the freezer with a layer of water to make ice. The water will be changed every 11-13 hours (usually after the morning and evening walk). Each food bowl will be given an amount appropriate for their weight and activity.

Each dog will have a 60 – 90 minute walk in the morning, and evening with feeding after the walk. They will be taken to the back yard before every walk, and once before bedtime. The goal will be to condition them to urinate and defecate in the yard rather than the street.

Each dog will be licensed with the City of Pittsburgh, and will have a double sided ID tag. The tag’s first side will have the name, the .TEL, gender, breed, and birth month/year. The second side will have my name, telephone number (ISO standard format). City of residence, my .TEL URL, and my .TEL email address.

Talisa

The first is Talisa which is a female Blue Doberman. She isn’t spayed, but this should be resolved by the end of 2011. This will be done by the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, and from the details on their site, and my income, I will expect about $125 for vaccinations, spaying, and micro-chip.

I am seeking to have Talisa spayed as I am not capable of supporting a litter. I do not have the space, nor finances for such. In addition, while a Blue Doberman is very appealing to many – it is actually a genetic defect of Black Dobermans. One major problems is they could start to loose their fur when they reach middle age, and it is harder for them to grow hair back. In a matter of fact, reputable Doberman breeders don’t breed to try to acquire Blues.

Dog Formerly Known as Ikey

The second dog is due to be mine in this month unless plans go wrong. Currently his name is Ikey, but I much rather prefer a name that is equally as powerful as Talisa. After some brain storming, I came up with 4 names, and dropped 1 name to a total of 3. As I did with Talisa, I will be seeking family and friends’ opinions, but will make the final decision which may or may not be the most popular one. Unlike Talisa, two names have roots in the real world (at least when I came up with them).

The names are as follows in alphabetical order. The first is Juron which is a role playing character. In the game, he was one of the most powerful of warrior emporers, and was honored with the formation of the “Holy Empire of Kazeran”. The second is Kalil which means Loyal in Arabic. The third is Malakas which means strong in Filipino.

Being a Pit Bull, and being almost completely black – I am sure he would have a bad perception. People cross the street when I am walking Talisa alone, I can only imagine what people will do when they see a Doberman and a Pit Bull walking. However, he is a very canine and people friendly. I of course will raise him to not be aggressive to people, however he is allowed to be protective.

His initial months of his life was not the best. I was told that he was kept in the back yard, and neglected to say the least. The current woman taking care of him is treating him well of course, but she has two dogs already, and do not feel 3 will be in her best interests. Knowing my interest in having a second dog, and approving on how I raise Talisa, she asked if I would be interested. Her main concern is to get him to a proper home that will be right for him.
