I bought the Macbook Air as it was the most affordable Macbook available. If I had a choice, I would have bought the Macbook Pro 15″. The Macbook Air came with a 1.6Ghz dual core CPU, 16GB of memory, and 1TB of storage. The color is not important except for aesthetic reasons, but I chose the Space Gray model. I also acquired a USB C – USB A adapter. Everything including Apple Care came to a little less than $2,400.
Even though the keyboard takes a little getting used to, it works well. Still also getting used to the touchpad. The keyboard remains lit which is better than the 90 second lighting on the Acer. So far, the system performs well – although not as high performing as the Acer which has a better CPU. The OS seems to be a little more simpler to work with. Removing applications is as simple as dragging the app to the trash can which uninstalls immediately rather than going through a process which is common in Windows. I haven’t been able to get my music on the Air, but should be able to do that in a couple of days (as of 2019-08-05).
While the keyboard works well, there are no Page Down / Page Up keys, nor any of those conventional keys that one should be able to find on a standard PC keyboard. There is Delete which functions more as a backspace rather than delete. The price is also a bit high when compared to Windows counterparts. I am hoping that the proclaimed longevity will make up for it. Also, none of the apps I used could I find in the Mac’s App Store. I just downloaded Chrome, and Thunderbird directly from the website.
All in all – so far, I like the system. I received it on 2019-07-31, so I could still return it if I wanted to. I will keep it, and of course make a significant payment to the credit card that I used to purchase this system. It will take a little getting used to, but I am sure I will adjust quickly.
