This week has been relatively quiet, as is most weeks in the second half of the month. I had to get some groceries which I done so with no issue. I also placed an order with Amazon for an item which someone was kind enough to gift me a portion of the proceeds with regards to the item. I will be making note of it when I get it. I also ordered a set of headphones which I needed. In addition, I got a free Spring/Autumn jacket which will do no good in the Winter, but will help in other times of the year. Last, I got an email from someone I rarely hear from, and replied – so I would guess I won’t hear from that person for a while again.
As for plans for the coming week, I will have an errand to do which will be done on Monday. I will also expect the Amazon package to come on Sunday. Not much else otherwise, especially with it being the end of the month. I would continue to do some work on my web sites, and documents that I hope to accomplish before the end of the year – but for now, things are pretty quiet.
On the 6th of November 2014, I purchased a bag of dog food from Amazon. This is the major reason I have Prime Membership. I didn’t think anything of it. I went to the page, selected the food, purchased it with the in-house credit I had with them, and I was informed I will receive it on Tuesday which sounds about right. I then receive an adjustment on the date to Wednesday which is OK. I wasn’t in any rush. However, Wednesday comes and goes, and no dog food. I contacted Amazon, and was told to wait until Saturday. I ended up having to buy dog food locally which in its own was a challenge (will soon explain). Friday comes and goes, and I send another message on Saturday which I will not have a new shipment send by One Day Shipping, however that never happened. Sunday, and Monday rolls along and the dog food never ships. I contact them on Tuesday and I am told that the particular flavor of dog food is in back order, and my options was to wait (which they will give me a $5 credit) or cancel the order. Obviously, giving a damn about whether my dogs eat or not, I cancelled the order and made a new one with the flavor they normally get. As of right now, I should hopefully get it sometime before Friday (today is Tuesday).
So, what did I have to do while the dog food was never delivered to me, and was required to wait for more than a week after ordering? Well, I had to do some research to see which pet stores has the brand they eat. Then I had to call the store to find out if they had any 20lb bags. Keep in mind, my money is still tied up with Amazon while I was not getting my dog food with them. I then had to take 2 buses and walk about 20 minutes, including walking back with a 20lb bag of dog food. For those that don’t know me (hopefully Amazon Reading this), I should not be walking with a 20lb of dog food due to a physical impairment. Obviously, I should have taken 3 buses. However, that trip to the pet store, and back took 3 hours of my life I would never get back. In turn, I spent $1.50 per pound for that 20lb bag of dog food.

This week could have been better. Spent the week waiting for the dog food from Amazon to come in. Keep in mind that I ordered it a week ago. It would seem as if I had to wait for Saturday to request a replacement – even though UPS never received it. I will be writing an entry about this as soon as the problem is resolved. However, I expected better. Needless to say, I still had to get dog food. I expect to run out either Sunday or Monday. I don’t want to have to go on the day I needed it, so I went on Thursday to get the dog food. The closest place was Edgewood Town Center where I could buy a 20lb bag of food for $30. This meant I had to take a 4: Troy Hill followed by a 61A: North Braddock, and then walk 3 blocks. With my ankles and the fact the 61A only runs about every 30 minutes – I would probably have to take 3 buses the next time, especially since this round trip cost me 3 hours of my time.
On Friday night, I informed Amazon which I should get a new shipment. Otherwise, my week has been spent working on the massive document that has consumed a bit of my time. No real plans for the coming week other than a couple of errands.
Amazon recently held a press event with their new fire line of devices. Like the Fire TV, the Fire Phone is a heavily customized – unsupported fork of Android. When I mentioned unsupported – Google Apps are not installed on the device, and this is how Amazon wants it. In turn, they are offering their own app store. This is a relatively high end phone, and with it comes a high end phone price, and limited to one carrier (at least in the US). The phone has a 2.2Ghz Quad Core Arm based CPU with Adreno 330 graphics. The phone has 9 band LTE (there are more than 2 dozen), and support all GSM-2G/3G bands. There is also NFC, Bluetooth, and Wifi-AC support. The phone has a 4.7” display, 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, Dynamic Perspective System, and runs Fire OS 3.5 which is a fork of the Android OS that is catered to Amazon and its services. All of this will cost $650 for the 32GB or $750 for the 64GB model. 1 year of Amazon Prime is included for a limited time, and the phone will only be supported for AT&T. AT&T will have a contract price of $200 with a 2 year contract.

This week was a somewhat eventful one. I had to go to the ear doctor which they put a hole in the ear drum to drain the fluids. They also gave me ear drops which is to help with the fluid. It seems to be working properly, although there is still a few days left with that. I took the dogs for a long walk to Downtown, but was in a bit of pain when I got back. In this regard I over did it I am sure. I also received some money owed which went to Amazon. This is because I need to build up as much as possible to address the Prime Membership fees that will be due next month.
The dentures aren’t doing as well as I would like. I will make an appointment next week to address that. On some other news, I got a new domain name which is fsp.house, however I didn’t get fsp.link. The first one joined my Big Ass What If Network of sites, while the second unsuccessful one was intended to replace fsp.cc as a redirect system. I have sought for two other domains in pre-registration – which both will join the Big Ass What If Network of sites as well. The first pre-registered was fsp.rentals (be released on May 29), while the second is fsp.country (be released on July 1).

This week is a pretty quiet week considering it is the end of the month. The first few days were busy. On Sunday, I went to help my brother, and his girlfriend with something. Since there were no buses, I had to walk down the hill, and when returning home, I used Spring Garden Avenue to Lager which was a little bit easier (although longer) than traversing Troy Hill Road. On Monday, I went to the grocery store to get some things I needed. However, I didn’t get everything I needed which was a little disappointing, but I will make due. In addition, I bought a bag of dog food. While I am not low on their food, it is still good to make sure I have a spare bag. Although, I did get shampoo which I was low on. I also got my prescription filled, but didn’t make it to the bank to deposit a $10 check I received. Later in the evening, someone came to drop off money he owed for a small favor I did for him. In turn, I went to the bank on Tuesday morning to deposit the check, and cash. This will then be applied to my Capital One Card that I use to pay bills with.
In addition, on Tuesday, I had to make a couple of phone calls to address a couple of things. Chris also stopped by and spent the night. However this day has been relatively quiet. One of the calls I had to make was for an appointment with my PCP. They managed to get me in the next morning. This however meant that Chris and I left my apartment at about 7:30AM. I went to his place after my appointment for lunch, and then back home.

This week was a pretty dull and quiet week. I had to go to Downtown to handle something on the behalf of someone else. I also had received a call from LiHEAP which I should be receiving something from them soon to give to the landlord. While I was in Downtown, I bought the needed postage to take care of that. Chris also stopped by and spent the night, but otherwise – this has been a relatively quiet week.
On some other notes, I did have a problem with my Verizon FiOS router which made a 10 minute job take the entire afternoon. Needless to say, I am not happy about that. I also received the Amazon Kindle (basic model without ads). The only reason I was able to get this is because I do it across 6 monthly payments. I wrote a first impression review about it. I also watched episode 14 of The Walking Dead, and all I have to say is poor Lizzie, but in some instance I seen it coming. When Chris watched the episode, he was a bit shocked and astounded. He didn’t see it coming at all.

Yesterday afternoon, I had received my Amazon Kindle e-ink based reader. While I will admit I hadn’t used it as much as I would want to, this is due to my resources rather than the product. I had received the option to take the device with a down payment, and 5 more monthly payments of $18/payment. First, I bought the device for one reason which is fine considering the limited role it has. I bought it to be an e-book reader. While I could read books on my PC, phone, or Nexus 7 tablet, the desire to have as close to a paper interface as possible was important.
Essentially, this is intended to be a book reader device rather than anything further. In addition, this is intended to have a much longer battery life, and a much more pleasant viewing where e-ink does not have nearly the same kind of strain as LCD screens. I had purchased the basic model without any ads on the screen. This will cost about $100 after the purchase price, and taxes. The tablet has a screen saver where a random b&w image on the screen. The device has a page back, and a page forward on each side. There is a back button, a keyboard button, a 5 way cursor, a menu button, and home button. The bottom has a power button, and micro-USB port. There is nothing on top, nor is there any 3.5mm jack. In addition, there is 1.25GB of usable storage which is integrated. This will provide for about 1200 books. There is no expansion storage.

This week was a bit eventful. Even though Capital One denied me receiving the Quicksilver card (the one with cash back), and received a notice of the denial, I received another application request, and got the card I applied for. So, go figure. This week has been relatively busy otherwise. On Monday, I had to go to my anesthesiologist for a regular check up, and prescription. While on the bus to that appointment, I made an appointment for the dentist for the next day for some mold castings. In addition, on Monday, I bought a new pair of jeans, a package of socks, and razors (cheap ones) that will be used if the set I ordered does not come in time.
On Tuesday, it was just as busy. First, I went to register with the CAP Program. This will help make my electric bill a little more affordable. The representative suggested that I don’t pay next month’s bill which will be a shocker to me. However, I will follow their advise – at least for one month. That money will however go to my credit card. I also had to call a specialized pharmacy to verify some information for a special medicine I will receive for my pain. This will be in conjunction with my regular pain medicine. I then returned home, walked the dogs, and took a little nap. I woke up to go to the dentist which I forgot my shopping cart. I therefore will have to go another day. The dental appointment was better than most of the appointments as there was no real discomfort as they had to file a couple of the teeth down for the mold castings.

Not much happened today. The dogs got their rawhide sticks which they get one every few days to keep their teeth clean. In addition, I had to go to Downtown to get some copies done. At which point, I will need to address those documents. I also needed to go to the bank to make a deposit. Most of that money will be going to the credit card. Speaking of credit card, I had received a credit line increase which will actually help out a lot.
Once I got home, I dealt with the documents that I needed to deal with, and went on Amazon where I got a few things including a new Kong Toy, Shampoo, two dog back packs (for when weather gets better), a USB hub which will be charging the increasing collection of items that charge via USB, and a blanket. Obviously this was done on the credit card which I will have to make some major payments in return. However, everything will have a big purpose to serve.
