Obviously, those that live in Pittsburgh will know PAT as the local public transit system here. Most people I know have a Love/Hate relationship with it. Most people will not deny that PAT is needed in some form or fashion, but most don’t like many things that have been done. Recently, PAT asked for opinions on how to adjust their fare system, and like always, they hadn’t done it truly correctly. They asked if people will approve or disapprove on the basics of changes, but offered no real method of addressing the opinion of those changes.
So, what would I do, and what will qualify me? First, I have been riding the bus system almost all of my life. I seen it in its best, and in its worst. In addition, I have been a Connect Card user since it was made available as a BETA to the public. And as a disabled adult, I am also using it as a half fare card. This means I am touching with personal experiences on many aspects of the fare system. I currently live in the Zone 1 fare, and rarely if at all enter Zone 2, but I can understand the frustration one in Zone 2 might have. This post is my personal thoughts on what should be done with the fare system based on the current system design. I personally feel that the PAT system needs to be completely overhauled and redeveloped under a perspective of people that use the system rather than what is being fling against the wall now.

Today was an active day, however I would have wanted it to be more productive. Chris spent the night, and had to leave in the late morning to watch his children, which is fine. I had some money that needed to be deposited into the bank which I did that. However, there was a line, and one person seemed to have taken a bit of a longer time to do his business. By the time I got to the teller, and made my deposit, I had to decide to catch the bus, or drop of the prescription for it to be filled on Saturday, and wait an hour. I decided to catch the bus. After that, I walked the dogs, and fed them. I also wrote a blog posting about the Nexus 7 review.
As for plans for tomorrow, I will plan to do laundry, but otherwise nothing else planned. I will also do some personal document work, but otherwise – tomorrow will be rather quiet. I will also be planning on reducing the number of blog posts I will be doing. This will mean at the end of the week, there will be no more daily updates, but instead either weekly updates, or major events.
A bit happened today. First, UPS delivered the blanket I ordered which made life a little more comfortable. In addition, I went to Andrea’s to deliver my niece her new phone. She was extremely happy with it. However, since she is not under my account, she has to work with who owns her account will have to authorize a SIM card change. This is because her old phone uses a Mini-SIM, and the new phone uses a Micro-SIM.
Chris went to my place, and on the way to my place, we seen the Route 4: Troy Hill leaving while the 88: Penn was turning on Liberty Avenue. Since we had another 30 minutes to wait for the next bus (during the rush hour), I took the time to add funds to my Connect Card, then we got a Subway at the Subway Restaurant. We left with about 5 minutes to wait for the next bus. My brother left late at night to walk down the hill to catch the 54.

Today was a bit of a busy day, but not as productive as I would have liked. I had an appointment with my anesthesiologist which was the normal checkup every 3 months. The appointment time was a bit off in relation with the bus runs, so I went to the Waterworks Mall – add funds to my Connect Card, and then went to the appointment. This was great as when I got out of my appointment, I walked to the bus stop and got on the 1 within a couple of minutes, and then the 4 within less than 10 minutes of getting off the 1.
Once I got home, I let the dogs out, fed them and spent the rest of the day on myself. I did receive a letter from Social Security which suggests that my income will increase about $10 extra per month. I will report this change with Section-8, and Department of Public Assistance.

Today was a busy day. I had to go to Bellevue to get the soles of my shoes replaced. This took about an hour of waiting, however there was also the time of riding the bus. Thankfully the bus on the way home connected with the Route 4 within moments which was good. In turn, I left a little before 9AM to catch the 9AM bus, and got home about 12:30PM. After I got home, I walked the dogs, and fed them.
As for plans for tomorrow, no plans really – being a Saturday. The next time I will have to go out or address something will be on Monday when I have a doctor’s appointment, and must also address some copies that will need to be handled. This however will be for another day.
A little bit happened today. I was able to walk the dogs before sub freezing temperatures came in. However, I had to go to Downtown which ended up costing. Strangely enough though – Downtown looked almost like a Ghost Town when I went there. Nonetheless, I did what needed to be done, came home did some other things, and worked on a document that I have been writing.
As for plans for tomorrow, I don’t have any, especially for a Sunday. I will therefore be home for the day. I will have to go to the grocery store on Tuesday, but that is for another day.
Today was a slightly busy day. I did some work on a few sites, although forgot to remove a setting on some pages within my blog site. I also received an application from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance. The part that makes this worth mentioning, is after more than a year of constantly nagging them, they are finally sending the mail to my home rather than the post office box I canceled last year. This was very important since my forwarding would have been terminated by the USPS in about a month as they only forward mail for up to one year.
In addition, I had to go to the grocery store. I ran out of bread, and needed to get some. Since I can’t do my major grocery shopping until Tuesday, I needed to get some food to hold over until then. I could have gone to the convenience store, but they would have charged me the same price as two loaves at the grocery store. And while going to the grocery store just for bread would have been a waste of money and time, I chosen to make value and bought a few other things so I wouldn’t have to rely on just one type of meal until Tuesday. In addition, I also bought dog food, which I should now have a month’s supply.

Today was a bit of a busy day. I had to go to Quest Diagnostics to get some blood work, and stool samples taken care of. This is for the illness I had the past week which was twice in a month’s time.
After that, I had to stop and eat something. The reason of why was I saw the bus leaving as I was walking to the stop. At least with the meal, it would have been one less thing I would have to have done when I got home. I then took a bus to the pharmacy to fill my prescription. From there, I waited for the bus to return home.

Not much happened today. I received money that was owed to me. I in turn, took the money to the bank to deposit it. Those funds were then used to pay my electric and ISP bill. I also went to the grocery store to get a couple of things that was needed. I was able to do everything in the hour before the next Troy Hill came back.
Not much else happened today. As for plans for tomorrow, I will be home for the most part. I will be paying my rent, T-Mobile bill, and my Capital One bill. I am hoping to be able to get the extended warranty on my PC in the next week. I will also have to make a phone call or two which I will hopefully be able to do in the morning.
Not much happened today, although today was a bit busy. First, a few things came in that was ordered. I received a rent rebate which was used to get the dogs in for an annual checkup, but also was used to get them new correction collars, a 6 pack of socks, and I splurged in getting a set of Bluetooth headphones – all of which have been received today. I am still waiting on the rechargeable batteries which will reduce the need to purchase batteries for the controller.
I also went down to pick up my prescription which was supposed to be filled yesterday, but I wasn’t able to pick it up since there are no buses in Troy Hill on Sunday. The local pharmacy still does not wish to support UPMC for You, and I have given up on them almost a year ago. I went down to get the prescription which had to be filled, but thankfully, I made it to the stop in time for the bus that brought me to East Ohio to return me to Troy Hill. Otherwise, I would have had to wait for more than an hour.
