Today was a bit chaotic. Andrea’s phone broke, and she lost her SIM card. Since I am the owner of her account, I had to go and get a new SIM. She is using my old My Touch which doesn’t serve me well, but will serve her which is better than nothing. The alternative was to put $70 down, and make $10 per month on a $250 phone. There would have been an upgrade fee which means I (she) would be charged for the privilege of purchasing a phone from a company that already gets about $150 per month.
However, with me trying to show her how to use and problems with buses and taxis, I left my home about 1:45PM, and didn’t get home until about 8PM. Thankfully, the dogs held their urine, and feces in until I made it home which was good. I just wished that they could have been trusted for free roam of the home.

Not much happened today. I did some work on my site, but will probably make some changes. I also received an unknown caller while I was in the bathroom. Obviously whoever it was – it wasn’t important enough for them to leave a message. I also took the dogs for an extended walk as well.
In the afternoon, I received a call from Toktumi regarding a problem I had with their app, and service. The service seems to be working fine which I assumed that they already fixed it, and neglected to tell me. However, the representative noted that they were rebuilding their app so maybe one day it would work properly.

In the first week of September, Chris finally was able to find the old Android phone, and gave it back to me. As the My Touch was the second Android phone ever produced, it is an old and legacy phone that will never really do everything that a smart phone should do. One needs an adapter just to use standard headphones. So, the phone will serve as an emergency phone in the case something will ever happen to my G2x, however it will go into service now for another purpose as a wifi phone.
First, keep in mind that this phone only has 528Mhz (compared to 1Ghz on average Android phones). It has a camera, but it is never really used. And for now, there is no SIM card, so this will not function outside of a wifi network. The phone is using wifi-G which I will eventually like to phase everything into wifi-N. Currently, my iPod Touch, printer, and now this wifi phone all uses wifi-G.

It has been almost two years, and in about 4 months – it would have been 20 months since I had the first revision of the My Touch as my cellular phone. When I bought it, I wanted it for GPS, and 3G capabilities. At the time, it was the only smart phone that was such an option for me. Now a days, in comparison – it will seem as if my phone is more like a toy rather than a phone. And there are times I am frustrated with the CPU lag it gives to me. Of course with a 528Mhz CPU on an OS that should be using twice the CPU, I guess I can’t blame it. So, I already know I wish to upgrade, but exactly what, and would I settle for less? Well, first I don’t see a reason to settle for less, and if there is no phone I am comfortable with on my carrier, I simply would either consider another carrier, or not get a new phone.
I will go into each and every detail that I will consider as important to me, and would offer my thoughts to such. With that in mind, I would focus on what I would want, and expect for my needs. While I am sure that there are other features some may find as important, that would be on their interests, and not so much of mine. However, I would of course need a smart phone that would support Google Voice, and offer the ability to tether without paying extra.

OK, after a bit of research, it would seem as if the 95xx from RIM would go again exclusively to Verizon. Maybe, a 9520 would go to AT&T, but for some reason – no RIM Touch screen phone for T-Mobile. This a bit of a shame as I was hoping for such.
Now, I am forced to have to be prepared to make a decision on my future that would not have everything I need and want. With the possibility of a $50 everything plan coming to T-Mobile, UMA will not be as important since most areas I go to has cellular coverage. However, UMA is still valuable. So, I would have to decide which of the two phone I would want.
