First Impression: Northwest 72-MA861 Headphones

The Northwest 72-MA861 Headphones is a set of over the ear muff style headphones that is completely using Bluetooth. As with any set of headphones, I will require the ability to handle phone calls. I had purchased the headphones from Walmart (item number: 551674858). There was no mention on the Bluetooth version that is supported, nor the profiles – however as cheap as it is, I doubt it uses Bluetooth 4.0 which offers low energy. The headphones are designed as expected for the most part. It is basic, but effective. The left side is blank with no buttons nor controls, while the right side hosts the USB charging port, play/pause button which also functions as the call answer/disconnect button and the power when held for about 5 seconds. The volume controls is the top and bottom buttons while the previous/next is the positional left/right. All of the controls are in a circle formation with a small round button for the play/pause. Obviously, the color selected was black but the interior of the muff is a baby color violet. Thankfully – no one will see that.

I bought these headphones because the ones I have been using for a year wasn’t working properly with my ears. After a year of fighting to keep them in only so they can pop out when I prefer them to not too, I knew I needed a new set. The Jabra Halo 2 was an utter failure even though I wanted the multi-point features they had. I could have bought a set of headphones that would have looped with my earlobes, but I literally was spending a few dollars more to have the Bluetooth set. The old wired headphones will remain in my backpack to function as a backup if the Bluetooth ones should have their battery charge expire. Week 32

This week was much any other week, although it ended terribly. As for the majority of the week, it has been much like most weeks. I paid bills, and got the things I needed. As for the end though, my tablet’s screen broke. This was due to a drop after my ankles gave way. I invoked my insurance with Assurance Solutions, and it was a complete rip-off. They were insisted on sending me the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 with the claim that it was a comparable model. It was far from a comparable model, and the Tab is inferior in every way. I managed to work out a somewhat reasonable solution with T-Mobile in replacing my tablet, but this is likely a one time thing which means I can’t trust the insurance provider to do the right thing in the future.

This is in addition that I still have yet to get tests for Talisa. This is still $100, and the tablet breaking is a major set back. While I “could” wait, there is also the issue of paying for the tablet I can’t use, and paying for service tied to the tablet. There is also the rumors I read on the Internet where Assurance will not support a device that has been broken for more than 30 days. I am hoping to have another option on standby, but as always, I expect worst case scenario.

Today was a little busy, but it could have been better. The plumber came to repair the kitchen sink, but it turned out to be worse than expected, so they are scheduled to come back tomorrow. In addition, I also had to go grocery shopping which needed to be done. I got most of the things I needed, but wasn’t able to get everything. I forgot to make a note of a couple of things needed, but this will be acquired when I go to get the dog food the dogs will need. The dogs of course got their walk which was a good thing too.

On some other news, the iPod Touch I had for 5 years is getting worse. I am going to treat it as if it is dead and will expire it when I can get a replacement. I placed an order for a cheap tablet with Walmart which I should get in less than a week. I had terrible experiences with cheaper tablets, but considering I need to replace the iPod ASAP, and I don’t have much money, I have to hope for the best. This is a 7” (1024×600) tablet with a poor, but hopefully tolerable resolution. It has 1.2Ghz Dual Core CPU, 1GB of memory, and 4GB of storage. There is an micro-SD card slot though. Since I don’t have an micro-SD card, I will have to get one if I choose to keep this. There is conflicting specs with version 3.1 and 4.1. If it is 3.1, it will be returned immediately. The tablet will typically remain home and serve as a music player, and a home clock. It will use Wifi to connect to my music until an SD card can be purchased.

As for plans for tomorrow, I am expecting to have the plumber come in again. However, before they come, I will like to get the dog food. While there is a bag already available, the dogs only have about 5 days before they will need to have the bag opened. I want to make sure they have enough food for the month. If I go tomorrow morning, I will leave rather early, get the dog food, and the few groceries I forgot.

Today was a somewhat busy day. I had replaced Chris’ phone with a new one. The defective phone should hopefully go out on Monday. Chris spent some time here and was able to leave with all of the updates needed.

He took me down the hill to where we part ways with him returning to his home, and me going to my dental appointment where I had a filling that needed to be done. Afterwards, I went back home via the bus system, took the dogs out for a walk and fed them.

Today was a busy day. It also could have been better. There are good news and bad news. The good news is I received the new PC. The bad news is I received the new PC. Confused? So am I. I have been trying to deal with Windows 8 since I got the PC started. The tile UI is Play Skool or Fisher Price like. It is good for touch screen, but since I could not afford a touch screen PC, I am finding myself doing twice as much work to get the same thing accomplished.

On a benefit, the PC does perform well in comparison to my older system. it will be demoted as a secondary system. It will service the label printer I have, and host my iTunes library. I will eventually phase the need to use iTunes with the podcasts. This system will not carry as much demand – allowing the systems to share responsibility, and essentially allow me to keep my sanity with regards to the Fisher Price UI.

Not much happened today. However, Malak and Talisa got to play with another dog for about an hour which was really good especially for the benefit of Malak. I also received the replacement Nexus 4 which I am hoping this will be the last time I will need to replace it. I will have to assume that this is a streak of bad luck.

In addition to the Nexus replacement, I also got a very low end phone which will handle my unknown callers. The rationale of this is I can turn off the phone and therefore have privacy while still being reachable by those I will want. This phone will be put in primary role if the next time comes where I will have to get my Nexus 4 replaced. No notebook today though, but it is for the best since it will be delivered tomorrow by UPS, and I can hand the defective phone for return.

Today was a bit of a bad day. My phone didn’t want to turn on for a few hours again, and didn’t charge through the night. This of course is forcing me to have to get another replacement. It started working again, so at least I had it.

In the meantime, Capital One has decided to screw things up again. The Positive Balance Credit (where I paid more than owed) was withdrawn from my account to be sent as a check, but while the check was cut, the money will remain with Capital One, and I should be able to get it back about the 29th. This is just leaving me more unsatisfied with Capital One to the point I now consider them a necessary evil. This compounded with the fact that they will not provide me with additional credit beyond $500, and my current PC is failing doesn’t make things better.

Not much happened today. I received the replacement phone which is a good thing. I reinstalled the software and started setting up some of the software I needed too. I also needed to charged it which I did before I went to the grocery store. After the grocery store, I went to Rite-Aid to pick up my prescription. I then went home to a mess in the kitchen which needless to say was something I was disappointed in. I finished a subject of the documents I was working on, and moved on to the next subject.

As for plans for tomorrow, I will try to reach Chris who still hadn’t paid for his phone bill. This is not something I am fond of. I also will do a little more work, and prepare for my appointment I will have on Thursday which is a follow-up from the extraction. I will also want to catch up on the TV show – Falling Skies.

Today while rather uneventful has been a slightly busy day. Chris was due to have a replacement phone that came to me as I am the account holder. In turn, the phone will be passed to him, and the G2x he was using for about a month will go to Andrea. However, a few things had to happen first. The phone needed to charge, and I needed to install updates. To minimize interruption while assuring the phone transfer will take place properly, I waited until after 8PM to change the SIM. The reason for this is the G2x uses a Mini-SIM, while the new phone will use a Micro-SIM. Because of this, I couldn’t just wait for him to come after work and insert the SIM card in the new phone.

I also took the dogs out for a walk twice today. I took them out in the morning when it was cooler, and a shorter walk in the afternoon. I also watched a couple of shows on Hulu and wrote a couple of emails. The landlord also came by to fix the back door. The hinges were coming loose, so they needed to be tighten.

Not much happened, although I did get the replacement router. It’s an Actiontec, so it is obviously one that will fail again. It also refuse to allow me to use the passphrase (what people enter to use the wifi network) which meant I had to make changes on every single device I owned. Already – I hate this router.

I also walked the dogs in the morning, and afternoon which I am sure they appreciated. I however felt pain afterwards, so I am glad I was able to stay home the rest of the day. The dogs also had a brushing today which they really enjoy their weekly brushing.
