This notebook was purchased to replace my failing previous computer. That computer was 7 years old when it finally failed, and I hoping that this PC will last about the same amount of time. I purchased this machine from a third party seller from Amazon for $830. In addition, I added a second drive which this review will be assuming that second drive is in place. All together, the system and components cost about $950.
The system has an Intel i7-8550U CPU which runs at 1.8Ghz. There is 8GB of memory, but the system can be upgraded with up to 32GB with the use of 2×16GB SODIMM. The system has an NVIDIA GeForce GPU which will take over when there is a demand on the system that will require a graphics card. The system came with a 256GB M.2 Solid State Flash (SSF) module (C:\), along with an addition of a 512GB 2.5″ Solid State Drive (SSD) (D:\), and a DVDRW Drive (E:\). There is also an SD Card reader. The system has a USB Type-C, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI out, VGA, and RJ45-1GBPS port. The system has Wifi-AC, and Bluetooth for Wireless Communications.

This is my first weekly update which replaces the daily update. This week could have been better. I received my T-Mobile bill, and noticed there was a discrepancy in my data for my Nexus 7. After talking with a half of dozen people (literally), and went through a range of email communications, I have the problem partially solved. It would seem that 30 days after I activated the tablet, my data is terminated even though I am supposed to get 200MB for the life of the tablet. A support ticket was sent to the engineer, but this could be as late as the first Monday of March for someone to address it. In the meantime, I am stuck having to get a 500MB data added to my bill, and the representative couldn’t even do that correctly. Email support fixed that, and promises to refund the charges for the 500MB while I fight to get my 200MB for that I am entitled too.
It got extremely cold this week again, but I managed to walk the dogs a few time. However, there were also a couple of days where it was dangerously cold for them to be going for a walk. Of course, they got to play indoors which is nice and warm. Talisa especially loves to sleep under the wool blanket at night. The dogs are doing well, although one of them misplaced the Kong toy again so I had to put the other one up until I take the time to look for it.

A bit happened today. I had to go to a doctor’s appointment. This took some time, and I will have to go next month as well. After my appointment, I went to someone’s house to pick up a PC that they say needs to be worked on. It originally came with Windows XP, but there is a locked version of Linux on it now. The owner asked me to try to get Windows back on. I will work on that tomorrow. After that, I headed home with Chris who stopped by about the time I got there.
As for plans for tomorrow, I will have to make a couple of phone calls possibly. I will also have to get to get my prescription filled. Other than the prescription, and what work I can do on the PC, there will be no real plans.
Today was a bit of a quiet day which meant that I should have been able to keep up with myself. I watched some podcasts, and a couple of shows on Hulu. I made a couple of phone calls, and worked on a couple of sites. I had some issues with one of the Pilone.name web sites which hasn’t been resolved yet.
Not much else happened. Trying to communicate with support was the most important thing I done. As for plans for tomorrow, I am hoping that the domain malfunctioning will be fine. I will also want to walk the dogs on their long walk. I am also hoping Chris will stop down with some money owed.
Not much happened today. I received the shipping box for the notebook which I will send either Friday, or Saturday. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, so if it does, it will be unlikely I will be taking it out anywhere. I didn’t have much else going on. One of the things I did was make sure that I have a back up of the files I needed to have in case I have to have the drive reformatted. I also placed an order for a micro-USB to USB adapter. This adapter will plug into the phone, and then allow me to plug a keyboard in it. However, it won’t arrive at least until Wednesday. At least I will have it for future needs. It would be really nice if I had a proper HDMI cable, and a monitor supporting HDMI, then I could possibly turn my phone into a very basic PC. It is nice to dream though.
No plans for tomorrow. I will be walking the dogs, and then let them play. Only if I am really sure that I won’t have to worry of rain will I take the PC and send it to HP. Otherwise, that will definitely wait until Friday.
I made it to the grocery store. I first done what I normally do with my dogs including giving them a walk. I also made sure they played for a little while. I then got on the bus, and went to the grocery store. I bought what I can, although some things were not available, and some of the food became more expensive than expected. This meant I had to make some adjustments. I did made it back home by Jitney, and ironically – Chris called in the evening to offer to take me to the store.
I also done some work on an Dell notebook that was for someone else. With that, I was able to make some money which will eventually go for the dog’s food, and maybe a little for myself. I didn’t get the money until the late afternoon, so I couldn’t just do everything at one time.

Today was pretty plain in the morning, and afternoon – however an associate of an associate asked me to remove a virus from their computer without their OS disc. I was able to kill the virus – but not before it did a lot of damage. This computer had Windows XP SP1 with IE 6 which I am sure is the problem. Since Microsoft considers XP at end of life for the consumer market, I had to grab both SP2 and SP3 packs and install them. This will be some work I will have to do for tomorrow.
Another thing I will have to do is try to get the drivers loaded. Since the person can only access their home network via wifi – this is definitely a must. Hopefully, I will be successful in this endeavor with this finicky brand (Dell Latitude 610)

Today, not much happened. Chris stopped by earlier, and gave some money he owed. I watched a couple of shows on Hulu, and composed some email. A friend of mine (Myriam) wanted some advise, and needed a little help with her domain that I am hosting for her, so I helped her out there. Otherwise, not much went on. I did some writing on some personal work which consumed part of my evening, but my day was relatively quiet otherwise.
As for plans for tomorrow, there is not much planned since tomorrow is Sunday. No activity, no buses, and nothing to do unless it would be from home which I am sure I could find something to do. My next busy day would be Monday where I am hoping that my Netflix comes in at a reasonable time frame, go to the post office in Downtown, and tend to my groceries that would have to be done. This again would all be on Monday.
Today was a bit of a long day. I waited for the landlord to stop down to fill the documents out, however – it would seem as if he would come “tomorrow”. I almost expected this, and will be looking for a new apartment after I make all of the calls I will need too. In the afternoon, I went to my Andie and Chris’ place. While there, I gave Alexis a network cable for her PC, and wanted to get the software plugged in for her so she could have the software that will serve her needs, and the capabilities of the PC. However, that didn’t work out in such a way.
While I was there – I spent the evening there with my brother, and the night. Not much went on there and Chris ordered dinner which was nice (although I ordered my fair share). Since I spent the night there, it would seem as if tomorrow will be a pretty hectic day. As for plans for tomorrow, I will have to make a few phone calls, and wait on a phone call that will most likely not come. I will also have to go hunting for a potential apartment.
Today was a pretty basic day. Andie decided to not heed my knowledge because someone else told her something different. Now, she seen as her option to reset the router which now – she doesn’t know how to set up a router password, and having trouble getting online. So, of course, I will eventually make it back there to try to fix it. However, she will have to wait as there are more important things I must accomplish – such as try to get this only place I found in my rights in a month’s time.
Also did some chatting, and composed an email. I also made some phone calls, and it will seem as if Section-8 is taking a vacation from answering the phones, so I have to make a special trip to the Downtown area of the city tomorrow. Yes, that will mean bus fare wasted.
