October has been a month of dealing with the consequences of September. Talisa has yet to get her tests, and with 6 weeks of not having the resources to get those tests, I felt it was my responsibility to her to start the surrender process. A couple of people said they were going to help, and I am sure that at least half of them had the best of intentions, but as of the last day of the month, nothing. On the same day I had filled out the surrender documents, there was a call for the Rescue Organization to pick her up. The woman informed me that she will be going in on Monday to get all of the tests she will need, and get the care she will need. In November, the household has decreased by a third.
Verizon wanted to charge me $90 for internet only services. This is completely unaffordable, and with failure to get a price I can afford, I had to sought out Comcast which in the first week of services and even before installation, there was billing problems. Sounds just like the good ole’ days. And yes I feel Verizon is better, but I am sure that most people will feel a Tesla Model S is better than a Yugo, but if you can only afford a Yugo, it doesn’t matter that you prefer the Model S. After the installation, I should be paying about $45 per month which is half of what Verizon wanted to charge. To play Devil’s advocate, Verizon was willing to talk about negotiations when I called to terminate the account. However, at this point it is too late. Continue reading October 2015
This week has been a bit frustrating. After receiving a scripted reply from Assurant on where my refund on my deductible is – I filed a chargeback request from Google. It will seem as if Google has really shitty policies in dealing with card issues on their customers in situations similar to mine. With this in mind, I am seriously considering recording phone calls when I contact companies such as Assurant. I will obviously have to inform them of the call being recorded, and receive consent for such. This will matters more difficult, but Google is asking if I have proof that they will refund me when I returned their inferior product. Since everything was done by phone, there is no such proof. I will have to do such in future major transactions.
On a good note, T-Mobile has refunded the out of warranty charge they imposed on me for Assurant’s incompetency. While I am very appreciative as an extra $150 would have been a big hit on me, T-Mobile should not have to have done this. I am now seriously considering legal actions against Assurant. While I did get the issue resolved through the grace of T-Mobile, Assurant has still done wrong. I still have the Nexus 4 my brother uses and my Nexus 7 on the JUMP program which uses Assurant, so I am hoping that not only can I hopefully get the devices upgraded to new Nexus devices, but hopefully use another company for insurance. The problem will be the $100+ cost for paying the insurance all at once.

This was a bit of a hectic week. I got the replacement Nexus 7 from T-Mobile which is doing Assurant’s job. Assurant also received their inferior tablet they sent me. I also did some grocery shopping, but for the most part – not much has been done. There have been some days where I was in a lot of pain, so therefore this week wasn’t nearly as productive as it should have been. I have been aiding my brother in a game he liked, but was frustrated that he lost his resources with the game. I have also been trying to work on the same game for myself, but this is another issue.
As for plans for next week, I will like to get a few groceries, but otherwise not much else is planned. I am still trying to get the money for Talisa, and with a few other issues going on – it has become harder. I will also be expecting to get money from my brother for his phone bill.
This week was much any other week, although it ended terribly. As for the majority of the week, it has been much like most weeks. I paid bills, and got the things I needed. As for the end though, my tablet’s screen broke. This was due to a drop after my ankles gave way. I invoked my insurance with Assurance Solutions, and it was a complete rip-off. They were insisted on sending me the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 with the claim that it was a comparable model. It was far from a comparable model, and the Tab is inferior in every way. I managed to work out a somewhat reasonable solution with T-Mobile in replacing my tablet, but this is likely a one time thing which means I can’t trust the insurance provider to do the right thing in the future.
This is in addition that I still have yet to get tests for Talisa. This is still $100, and the tablet breaking is a major set back. While I “could” wait, there is also the issue of paying for the tablet I can’t use, and paying for service tied to the tablet. There is also the rumors I read on the Internet where Assurance will not support a device that has been broken for more than 30 days. I am hoping to have another option on standby, but as always, I expect worst case scenario.

On Thursday August 7, my Nexus 7’s screen cracked. This was due to my ankles giving way, and in turn – the Nexus 7 falling out of my hand and hitting the ground. Yes, I was pissed. Not only do I have to come up with money for Talisa’s test – but now I had to come up with money to pay the deductible. You see, I pay $10 for T-Mobile’s Jump program which includes Premium Device Protection with Assurant Solutions. Now, my brother and his girlfriend each had to use the insurance service because they are careless with expensive things – however in the 6+ years I had T-Mobile, and been using smart devices (first one being a Blackberry 8320 – pre Apple/Android days), I had never broke a device.
So, I find out how much the deductible is, and I pull funds out of 2 credit cards to fund $100 on my Google Wallet Card. I tried to file online, but it was not successful – so I called them. They had the claim, and it would seem as if the system had problems with the Google Wallet Card. The system did accepted it, and Assurant informed me that they will be sending me the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 – 7.0 because it is a comparable model to the Nexus 7. I disputed with the representative and informed them that I had the Nexus 7, and that is the item I want. It is still available on the market, so it is not a legacy device. I bought the Nexus 7 because I get a reliable update path, and prefer the stock Android over the UI interfaces that other carriers give. I was told that I would have to speak with T-Mobile about it. And so the madness begins
Continue reading Assurant’s Bait and Switch Scheme
This was a busy week. The first of the month fell in this week which will explain why. I was out most of the days in some degree, and had been a bit busy throughout. First, I spent a little on my credit card to get new socks and briefs. I was lacking in socks without holes, and my briefs were falling apart. I swear though, underclothes are getting too expensive. On the first, my benefits came, although there was some delay. I was able to address most things quickly though. I paid my rent, and electric bill. I then transferred the rest to my two Capital One cards. The Quicksilver got the money for the phone bill, and Internet service. The reason for this is because this card provides a cash back on purchases made. While nothing to brag about, it is better than nothing. However, even though I paid the bills before the banks open on the first, the money didn’t get recognized until the third.
I also decided to buy a new phone. I of course used T-Mobile’s EIP in-house credit which seems to rival my two credit cards put together. This is rather depressing, but I am not complaining. I was considering trading in the old phone for credit to the new phone, but they only wanted to offer me $20 for my near perfect condition Nexus 4. For that T-Mobile, FU! Needless to say, I kept the Nexus 4. It is now being used as a house phone which therefore retires my old cordless phone from service.

Not much happened this week. I received a little of the money Chris owed me, but not as much as I wanted. I deposited the money into the bank which was then transferred to the two credit cards, and a portion to the Google Wallet. In addition, I decided to upgrade my phone from the Nexus 4 to the Nexus 5. I also learned the hard way that even Nexus devices with T-Mobile is locked to T-Mobile. I requested an unlocked code for my Nexus 4 which the last payment will be paid in July’s bill. The first payment for my Nexus 5 will be in August. Last this week, Chris came by on Saturday for a couple of hours.
As for plans for the next week, I will be expecting not only my normal benefits, but a rent rebate deposit. This is due on July 1, which the money will be used to pay for the dog’s annual visit, and the rest to my credit cards to reduce the money owed. I am also expecting a BAWI site to be registered which I will start to work on (hopefully). I had been a bit lazy on my sites this week, and hope to make up for it in the coming week.

This is my first weekly update which replaces the daily update. This week could have been better. I received my T-Mobile bill, and noticed there was a discrepancy in my data for my Nexus 7. After talking with a half of dozen people (literally), and went through a range of email communications, I have the problem partially solved. It would seem that 30 days after I activated the tablet, my data is terminated even though I am supposed to get 200MB for the life of the tablet. A support ticket was sent to the engineer, but this could be as late as the first Monday of March for someone to address it. In the meantime, I am stuck having to get a 500MB data added to my bill, and the representative couldn’t even do that correctly. Email support fixed that, and promises to refund the charges for the 500MB while I fight to get my 200MB for that I am entitled too.
It got extremely cold this week again, but I managed to walk the dogs a few time. However, there were also a couple of days where it was dangerously cold for them to be going for a walk. Of course, they got to play indoors which is nice and warm. Talisa especially loves to sleep under the wool blanket at night. The dogs are doing well, although one of them misplaced the Kong toy again so I had to put the other one up until I take the time to look for it.

About a month ago, I purchased the Nexus 7-32GB from T-Mobile. Obviously, this is the LTE version, and it is the 2013 Edition which means it is the thinner one with a camera in the front and the rear. I bought this tablet for a couple of reasons. First, I think I should have something relatively nice once every couple of years without a “need” or condition. My last major purchase was my notebook which replace the one that died, and the one before that was my Nexus 4 which required a 2 year contract. Now with the tablet came a down payment which was pretty much the $10 SIM card, and sales taxes on the price defined by T-Mobile. With expedited Shipping, I paid $50 and will be paying $16/month for 24 months. In addition, there is a $10/month service charge for 200MB, but since I am a T-Mobile customer, there is a $10 credit that will be applied to the bill.
The tablet has a Snap Dragon S4 Pro running at a 1.5Ghz Quad Core CPU. This is a little slower, but more cores than my notebook that I am typing this posting on. It has an Adreno 320 GPU running at 400Mhz which is sufficient for tablet games. There is 2GB of memory, and 32GB of storage with no micro-SD card slot. There is a 3950mAh battery which does about 8-9 hours of active use, and can go a day with casual use. The micro-USB2 port supports for both charging, HID (Human Interface Devices), and Slim Port for media. This port is located on the bottom with the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. Both power, and volume is located on the right hand side along with the Micro-SIM tray. The screen has full HD with 323ppi, a 1.2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera. There is no LED flash however. It supports Dual Band Wifi-N, Quad Band GSM-2, 850/900/1900/2100 HSPA+ as well as AWS 1700/2100 (used by T-Mobile) for GSM 3G. It supports 700/850/1700/1800/1900/2100 MHz LTE, and Bluetooth 4.0LE. Obviously, it also has GPS, and NFC.
